Climate change is altering the food America grows. In every region, farmers and scientists are trying to adapt an array of crops to warmer temperatures, invasive pests, erratic weather and earlier growing seasons. Last week EPA has deemed glyphosate “safe,” but three public trials involving Monsanto have raised troubling questions about lax oversight of all pesticides by the Environmental Protection Agency. According to an analysis published in the Journal of Public Health Policy, Coca-Cola uses contract agreements to influence the public health research it financially supports. Coca-Cola has poured millions of dollars into scientific research at universities – but if the beverage giant doesn’t like what scientists find, the company has the power to make sure that their research never sees the light of day. Often times we see the conventional farming advocates claim that organic farmers use pesticides. To help bust that myth the Rodale Institute demonstrates organic not only bans synthetic herbicides like Roundup—it prohibits the use of hundreds of chemical additives, preservatives, colorings and more. Researchers at the Food and Drug Administration revealed the results of a small clinical trial designed to test how four of the most common sun-filtering molecules on the market behave after they’ve been sprayed on and rubbed in. The results, published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, show that contrary to what sunscreen manufacturers have been saying, UV-blocking chemicals do seep into circulation. Also in the news, for seven years, the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act required America’s schools to serve children plenty of fruits, vegetables and whole grains, and kept tight limits on added sugar and sodium in their lunches. These rules were a success of the Obama administration – to one estimate, they would have prevented almost 2 million new cases of childhood obesity. Unfortunately, Secretary of Agriculture Sunny Perdue rolled back the nutritional requirements.

Wait, Organic Farmers Use Pesticides?
But organic is more than that. Organic not only bans synthetic herbicides like RoundUp—it prohibits the use of hundreds of chemical additives, preservatives, colorings, and more.
The EPA is meant to protect us. The Monsanto trials suggest it isn’t doing that

Study Uncovers How Coca-Cola Influences Science Research
According to an analysis published in the Journal of Public Health Policy that explains how Coca-Cola uses contract agreements to influence the public health research it financially supports. America’s Children Deserve Healthy Food
For seven years, the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act required America’s schools to serve children plenty of fruits, vegetables and whole grains, and kept tight limits on added sugar and sodium in their lunches. These rules were a signal success of the Obama administration: According to one estimate, they would have prevented almost 2 million new cases of childhood obesity. Unfortunately Sunny Perdue rolled back the nutritional requirements.
