Why is it important for your brand to celebrate Earth Month and how are you celebrating throughout the month?
Celebrating Earth Month is essential for our brand because we believe that Mother Earth takes care of us in so many ways—providing us with the air we breathe, the food we eat, and the natural beauty that surrounds us. We know that to ensure a beautiful future for generations to come, we must take proactive steps now to regenerate and sustain the planet’s health and resources.
This month, we’re collaborating with our Regenerative Brands cohort on a giveaway, encouraging our team and community to connect with nature, and sharing the stories of what farmers are up to as they are the stewards of the animals and the Earth, we want to amplify their story and their importance to the world so that they may be empowered and supported.
How are you planning to celebrate Earth Month this year? Do you have any special events or initiatives in mind?
This Earth Month, we’re thrilled to join our Regenerative Brands cohort and Jimbos for a special giveaway! We’re spreading awareness of regenerative products and inspiring a deeper connection with Mother Nature. Throughout Earth Month—especially on Earth Day—we encourage our team to step outside, soak in Mother Nature’s beauty, and foster a deeper connection with the wild nature around us. After all, Mother Nature is meant to be celebrated every single day! Additionally, we are providing our community with simple digital and printable activations all throughout Earth Month to encourage them to step outside and enjoy what Mother Earth has to offer. These activities are intentional and build connectivity with the environment and the world around us.
This month we are also leaning into the symbolism of the wildflowers that we use on our packaging and in our marketing materials. As fourth-generation farmers, we take pride in our land, our animals, and the deep connection between farmers, Mother Nature, and the people we feed.
When we were kids, riding in the back of our grandpa’s truck, we never understood why he drove so slow past the fields and down the dirt roads. We were always eager to get where we were going—whether it was to play, work, or run the many errands that came with farm life. But now, as grown-ups with our own kids, who have chosen to make the farm our home, we catch ourselves doing the very same thing. Driving slowly, taking it all in. Just like he did.
Our grandpa, whose vision shaped the farm into what it is today, has since passed. But his presence lingers in the wildflowers growing along the banks—his favorite. In the way, the fields sway with life. In the quiet moments when we stop, just as he used to, to admire the beauty around us. Now, when we bring others to the farm or take a ride ourselves, it’s not just about getting from one place to another. It’s about feeling the peace, the beauty, and the heartbeat of the land. It’s about appreciating Mother Earth—just as he did.
What does your brand do to help create a healthier environment and to treat the planet more respectfully every day?
As a mission-driven company, the environment is one of our core pillars, and our Impact guides everything we do. We started Painterland Sisters as a way to sustain family farms and to support these farms in their operation in harmony with nature. Our product is a PA Preferred product meaning we source from many Pennsylvania family farmers right here in our home state!
We support sustainable farming practices that prioritize the health of the environment—from protecting waterways and the air to nurturing all living beings that rely on the land. Our organic skyr is made from organic milk from our family farm and other surrounding family farms. We firmly believe in advocating for our amazing farmers who are true stewards of the land, working alongside Mother Earth. By promoting practices like organic farming, grazing, minimal tillage, and utilizing cover crops, we help preserve the natural balance and integrity of our ecosystems.
In addition to our farming efforts, we take proactive steps to reduce our environmental footprint. Our packaging solution for our simply yummy skyr yogurt is designed with sustainability in mind using around 33% less plastic than typical products and incorporates a cardboard label to provide structure to this thinner container. This thoughtful design reduces our reliance on plastic while maintaining the functionality of our products.
Education is also a key part of our mission. We actively educate others on sustainable agricultural practices and advocate for a deeper understanding of individual environments, avoiding the use of harmful chemicals. Instead, we focus on working with nature in a way that supports the long-term health of Mother Earth through our organic regenerative farming.
Through these efforts, we strive to make a meaningful impact on the environment and help others recognize the importance of caring for Mother Earth to ensure a healthier and more sustainable future for generations to come.
Why is it important for your brand to be organic?
At Painterland Sisters, being organic is extremely important to us because we believe in working with Mother Nature, not against her. Organic farming embraces the natural rhythms of the earth and nurtures the land, ensuring that future generations can continue to thrive in a healthy environment. Organic food provides a safer, cleaner option, promoting the well-being of people and animals.
We are proud to be a voice for the farmers in our supply chain who are committed to organic practices. These farmers share our vision of working in harmony with nature, and we actively uplift and celebrate their dedication. We not only stand by the principles of organic farming but are also passionate about educating others on how beautiful, sustainable, and important these practices are. By promoting organic methods, we are fostering a more sustainable and responsible future for the environment, our communities, and the food systems that nourish us all.
What does organic do to make the planet healthier?
Organic provides numerous benefits to Mother Earth, helping to create a healthier planet, food system, and people. By focusing on natural methods, it promotes healthier soil through crop rotation, composting, and eliminating synthetic chemical use, which helps prevent soil degradation. Healthier soil leads to healthier plants, animals, and people fostering a balanced ecosystem. Organic practices also support biodiversity, protect waterways from harmful runoff, and reduce pollution. Ultimately, organic farming contributes to a healthier environment, ensuring a cleaner, more sustainable future for generations to come. It’s a holistic approach that nurtures both the earth and all living beings who depend on it.
How can consumers celebrate Earth Month?
Consumers can celebrate Earth Month in so many fun and impactful ways! They can look for local events like tree planting or roadside clean-ups, which are great opportunities to get involved in their communities or taking a walk outside and take time to truly enjoy what nature has to offer. But it doesn’t stop there—celebrating Earth Month should be a year-round commitment! Simple daily actions like recycling, shopping at farmers’ markets, or even taking a walk outside to connect with nature can make a big difference.
Our skyr provides an opportunity for consumers to become connected to the source of their food by knowing their farmer through a farm-to-spoon experience. Food isn’t just something that appears on a store shelf—it has a story, a purpose, and a place of origin all tracing back to the farmer. Every spoonful of our organic skyr yogurt comes straight from our family of farms to your fridge, connecting you directly to the land, the hardworking farmers, and cows that make it possible. By following our journey on social media, consumers can see our farm life, our family, and our cows grazing in harmony with Mother Nature, reinforcing the deep-rooted connection between knowing your farmer and the food you are feeding your family. Our skyr provides an opportunity to know your farmer!
