Organic diet intervention significantly reduces urinary glyphosate levels in U.S. children and adults. A lack of bees in agricultural areas is limiting the supply of some food crops, a new US-based study has found, suggesting that declines in the pollinators may have serious ramifications for global food security. Dramatic decline found in Western bumblebee populations. A federal review of existing data unveils an alarming trend for the western bumblebee population, which has seen its numbers dwindle by as much as 93% in the last two decades. The U.S. food system is killing Americans. Among the most significant risk factors for hospitalization and death in Covid-19 is the presence of diet-related chronic diseases such as hypertension, heart disease, and obesity. The Regenerative Organic Certified (ROC) program, a rigorous sustainability certification for foods, fibers, and personal care products, is now publicly available after a yearlong pilot phase. The first ROC-certified products are also now on sale from producers including Dr. Bronner’s, Nature’s Path, Patagonia Provisions, and more.
Organic diet intervention significantly reduces urinary glyphosate levels in U.S. children and adults
An organic diet was associated with significantly reduced urinary levels of glyphosate and AMPA. The reduction in glyphosate and AMPA levels was rapid, dropping to baseline within three days. This study demonstrates that diet is a primary source of glyphosate exposure and that shifting to an organic diet is an effective way to reduce body burden of glyphosate and its main metabolite, AMPA.
